05/05/2010: Ambassador Gaa Calls on Filipinos in U.S. To Send in their Votes Prior to May 10 Deadline
I wish to remind the Filipino community in the United States that the submission deadline of electoral ballots to the Embassy or Philippine Consulates General is on 10 May 2010 at 6:00 a.m. EDT (6:00 p.m. in the Philippines). Overseas absentee voters are advised to read the postal voting instructions enclosed in the electoral mail sent by the Commission on Elections to ensure that ballots are accomplished according to the prescribed rules and regulations.
Registered voters who did not receive their ballots are continuously encouraged to check with the Embassy or Philippine Consulates General if their names are included in the comprehensive list of returned mails and to claim it no later than 7 May 2010.
Our participation in this year’s national elections reflects our continued gratitude to the gift of suffrage accorded to us by the Constitution. It is in this note that I am once again appealing to all the registered Filipinos to cast your votes and be involved. Let this election define the voice of a nation that continues to push for a stronger Republic and a citizenry that upholds the values of democracy. END.
