03/02/2011: Vice President Binay briefs Amb Luis Cdebaca on PHL anti-trafficking efforts

03 February 2011, Washington, D.C. Vice President Binay shakes hands with Ambassador Luis CdeBaca, Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State and head of the State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons. The Vice President briefed Amb CdeBaca on the efforts being taken by the Philippine government to combat trafficking in persons, and the results of such efforts. The VP expressed optimism that the results will be duly recognized, and the Philippines upgraded to at least Tier 2 in the 2011 Trafficking in Persons Report.

The Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons leads the United States’ global engagement on the fight against human trafficking, and is responsible for drafting the annual US Trafficking in Persons report. END
