15 February 2011, Washington DC. Philippine Embassy officials, led by Consul General Domingo Nolasco, met with Congressman Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao at the Hay-Adams Hotel, which is situated across from the White House.  Before his meeting earlier today with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Congressman Pacquiao was provided an update of the Philippine government’s efforts to secure passage of the Save Our Industries Act, a bill being proposed in the United States Congress, which aims to generate and restore jobs for both the Philippine apparel and the American textile industries.  The first-term congressman, representing the lone district of Sarangani province, reiterated his support to the bill and is helping solicit legislative support for the measure.

Congressman Pacquiao was given a tour of Capitol Hill today courtesy of Senator Reid.  The eight-term world champion boxer is currently in the U.S. for a promotional tour of his upcoming fight on May 7.  END
