14/04/2011: PH Sugar Delegation Meets US Officials
14 April 2011, Washington DC. A delegation of Philippine sugar industry representatives visited Washington, D.C. from April 4 to 7, 2011 and met with various American government officials and private partners to express support for the United States sugar program, which has not only benefitted American producers and consumers but sugar industries in developing countries like the Philippines as well. All of the Philippines’ annual $50 to $60 million raw sugar exports are destined to the U.S. market.
The group was composed of Sugar Regulatory Administration Administrator Maria Regina Bautista-Martin, Confederation of Sugar Producers Associations President Marcelino Aganon Jr., Sugar Alliance of the Philippines Director Francisco Varua, Philippine Sugar Millers Association Executive Director Archimedes Amarra, National Federation of Sugarcane Planters (NMFS) President Enrique Rojas, NMFS Northern Negros Planters Association Chapter President Dr. Miller Serondo, Vice Governor Leonides Fausto of NMFS-Cagayan, and NMFS representative Jaime Golez. They were accompanied in their meetings by Philippine Embassy Agricultural Attaché Dr. Josyline Javelosa. END
