17/05/2011: World Bank Country Director Calls on Ambassador Cuisia
17 May 2011, Washington DC. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. was briefed today by World Bank Country Director Bert Hofman on the Country Assistance Strategy Progress Report (CASPR) on the Philippines. Ambassador Cuisia conveyed his appreciation for the continued strategic partnership of the Bank with the Philippine Government in fighting poverty and promoting good governance.
The Report confirmed that the macroeconomic prospects for the Philippines are encouraging and that investor confidence in the country continues to improve with the Aquino Administration’s “strong focus on tackling corruption and reducing the costs of doing business.”
Mr. Hofman also served as Co-Chair of the 2011 Philippines Development Forum (PDF) which was held in Manila on 26 February. END
