31/05/2011: Ambassador Cuisia Meets with Senator Cochran

31 May 2011, Washington DC. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. recently visited Senator Thad Cochran at his Dirksen office on Capitol Hill. Senator Cochran is the senior U.S. Senator from Mississippi, Republican Vice Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Defense (Appropriations), and Member of the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry.
Together with Senator Daniel K. Inouye, Senator Cochran recently visited the Philippines. He told Ambassador Cuisia that he had a very good visit and he “saw the Philippines as a very modern place.” Ambassador Cuisia briefed the Senator on the SAVE Act and the Philippine efforts for the renewal of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP). The two officials also talked about the importance of defense cooperation between the Philippines and the United States. Senator Cochran stressed that “our interests are so similar in so many areas” and wishes the Philippine government all the best. END
