31/05/2011: Ambassador Cuisia Meets with the Leadership of the Senate East Asian and Pacific Affairs Subcommittee

31 May 2011, Washington DC. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia Jr.  met with Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) and Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK), who both serve in the Senate Subcommittee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the Committee on Foreign Relations.  Senator Webb is the Subcommittee’s Chair, while Senator Inhofe serves as the Ranking Member.

During the meetings, Ambassador Cuisia discussed the SAVE Act, Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, defense cooperation, and ASEAN issues. Senator Webb stressed that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee “has had real impact on East Asian and Pacific affairs” and that they “really pursued vigorous reconnection with the region.” For his part, Senator Inhofe expressed his desire to visit the Philippines soon.  END
