10/06/2011: Ambassador Cuisia Meets Representative Miller of Florida
10 JUNE 2011, WASHINGTON, DC. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. met with Representative Jeff Miller, the Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs to discuss veterans issues and other matters concerning Philippines-United States relations. On the eligibility of Filipino veteran applicants who have pending benefit claims under the Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation Act, Chairman Miller said that he would be more than happy to look into the matter.
Chairman Miller took note of the SAVE Act bill which Ambassador Cuisia explained in detail. He recounted his visit to the Philippines in the Fall of last year, which he undertook as a member of the House Committee on Armed Services. Among the places he visited were Zamboanga, Corregidor and American Battle Memorial & Cemetery in Makati. Ambassador Cuisia also congratulated Chairman Miller for his invaluable work as Co-Chair of the National Prayer Breakfast, held last February where he had the chance to meet with Vice President Jejomar Binay.
