29/06/2011: Global Young Leaders Conference Participants Visit Embassy of the Philippines
Ambassador Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. (center) is joined by 24 outstanding junior and senior high school students from Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, India, Dominican Republic, India, South Africa, among others, during the visit of the Global Young Leaders Conference participants at the Embassy of the Philippines.
29 June 2011, Washington, DC – Participants in the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) visited the Embassy of the Philippines today and were given a briefing on the work of Philippine diplomats in Washington, DC.
They had the opportunity to meet with Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. Officers of the Philippine Embassy namely, Minister Ariel Peñaranda (Legislative Affairs), Minister Maria Austria (Political Affairs), Second Secretary Angelito Nayan (Economic Affairs) and Third Secretary Corina Apostol-Reyes (Cultural Affairs) discussed the dynamics of the bilateral relations between the Philippines and the United States.
A short video about the Philippines was also shown to the GYLC participants.
GYLC is a leadership development program for outstanding high school juniors and seniors from different countries, organized by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council. Students from over 100 countries are selected on the basis of their academic excellence and leadership experiences to travel to the United States and interact with world leaders and learn about global leadership and communications.
After the open forum, the young guests enjoyed eating turon (banana fritters) and chicken empanada. -- END
