01/07/2011: Youth Exchange and Study Ph Participants Visit Embassy of the Philippines

01 July 2011, Washington, DC – Thirty-nine high school students from the Philippines who recently completed their one year program under the Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program visited the Embassy of the Philippines on 30 June 2011. Most of the students come from Mindanao in southern Philippines.
Administered by AFS International Network (formerly American Field Service), YES brings high school students from different countries to attend high school in the United States for one year and learn more about the US society. The program is sponsored by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs. AFS International Network is a worldwide non-profit organization that has been leading international high school exchange for the past 60 years. AFS works with US schools to provide them with outstanding students from abroad who contribute greatly to academic and community life.
The Embassy hosted the students for lunch after a presentation was made on the work done by Philippine diplomats in Washington, DC. -- END
