11/07/2011: US-ABC Organizes Roundtable and Luncheon for Ambassador Cuisia

11 July 2011, Washington D.C. – The US-ASEAN Business Council, headed by its President, Alexander C. Feldman, organized a roundtable and luncheon with Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr., today at the Metropolitan Club of Washington, D.C. Members of the U.S.-Philippines Business Committee - Coca Cola, Peregrine, Chevron, and Citibank – co-sponsored the event.
During the occasion, Ambassador Cuisia highlighted key developments in the Philippines including the country’s economic performance, the Aquino administration’s agenda of good governance, programs such as the Partnership for Growth initiative and Millennium Challenge Account compact, as well as regional concerns.
In his remarks, Ambassador Cuisia said “the Philippines is performing at an all-time high in every aspect and there is no better time for investors to take advantage of the many opportunities created by our robust and resilient economy.” He also commended the Council for the successful conduct of its business mission to the Philippines last March 30 and April 1.
Council President Alexander Feldman said that the organization looks forward to strengthened bilateral relations under the “Cuisia era” and recognized the Ambassador’s efforts in “taking this relationship to the next level.”
Also in attendance were senior U.S. government officials from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Trade and Development Agency, the Departments of State, Energy and Commerce, and representatives from the offices of Senators Daniel Inouye and Harry Reid, Congressman Trey Gowdy, and Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell.
