13/07/2011: Ambassador Cuisia Meets with Congressman King of New York
13 JULY 2011, WASHINGTON, D.C. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. engaged Representative Peter T. King in a conversation on security and trade matters during a meeting at the congressman’s office on July 12, 2011. Representative King is the Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and also sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He is the Republican representative for New York's 3rd congressional district.
Ambassador Cuisia and Representative King discussed issues surrounding the West Philippine Sea (also known as the South China Sea) as well as the key interests of major players in Asia. They also talked about the success of the cooperation between the Philippines and the United States in combating terrorism in Southern Philippines. On the SAVE Our Industries Act (SAVE Act), Representative King said he would look into the bill and provide the Ambassador with a response soonest.
Rep. King's district includes parts of Nassau County and Suffolk County, all in the central part of Long Island. END.
