13/07/2011: Ambassador Cuisia Meets with Congresswoman Chu of California

13 JULY 2011, WASHINGTON, D.C. At a meeting on July 11 with Representative Judy May Chu, Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. commended and congratulated the representative for her work as Chairwoman of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC). He reiterated the Philippine government’s appreciation for the role of CAPAC in promoting the cause of Filipino veterans of World War II.

Representative Chu stressed that she has been a very strong supporter with respect to the concerns of the Filipino American community, particularly on the issue of Filipino veterans. She said she would carefully consider the SAVE Our Industries Act (SAVE Act), noting the benefits that would be gained by both Filipino and American workers.

Representative Chu is the U.S. Democratic Representative for California's 32nd congressional district. She is the first Chinese American woman ever elected to the U.S. Congress. Rep. Chu is a member of the Committee on the Judiciary, Committee on Education and Labor, and Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. END.
