13/07/2011: Ambassador Cuisia Meets with Congressman Ruppersberger of Maryland
13 JULY 2011, WASHINGTON, D.C. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. discussed trade and security matters during his meeting on July 7 with Representative Charles Albert "Dutch" Ruppersberger III, the U.S. Democratic Representative for Maryland's 2nd congressional district. The district covers parts of Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Harford County and Baltimore City, including Dundalk, Towson and Severn. Representative Ruppersberger is Ranking Member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and Member of the Committee on Armed Services.
Represenative Ruppersberger visited the Philippines in August 2007 and met with American troops in Zamboanga and Philippine government officials. He lauded the “tremendous reputation of Filipinos for work ethic” and spoke about his pride of initiating a Philippine festival in his district. He also took note of the SAVE Our Industries Act and offered advice to Ambassador Cuisia on how to get it through the US Congress. He cited the importance of the support expressed by Secretary Hillary Clinton for the bill. END.
