25/07/2011: Ambassador Cuisia Meets with Senator Menendez of New Jersey
25 JULY 2011, WASHINGTON, D.C. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. discussed Philippines-United States trade and political engagement with Asian-American communities during his meeting on July 13 with Senator Robert Menendez, the Democratic Senator for New Jersey. Senator Menendez is a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and the Committee on Finance. He serves on various subcommittees including the Subcommittee on International Trade, Customs, and Global Competitiveness (Committee on Finance).
During the meeting, Senator Menendez said he would seriously consider the SAVE Act, expressing a desire to “do anything mutually beneficial” for the Philippines and the United States. He also conveyed his intent to visit the Philippines, and mentioned plans to form a Senate Asia-Pacific Advisory Committee to pursue a dialogue on the concerns of Asian-Pacific constituents.
Senator Robert Menendez attended the Filipino-American Friendship Day in New Jersey last June 26. The parade was organized by the Philippine American Friendship Committee, headed by its president Isagani Puertollano.
