27/07/2011: Ambassador Cuisia Meets with Senator Isakson of Georgia
27 JULY 2011, WASHINGTON, D.C. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. provided updates to Senator Johnny Isakson on the robust relationship between the Philippines and the United States at a meeting on July 26, 2011. The Ambassador and the Senator also talked about the active and sizeable Filipino community in Georgia and noted the contributions of the Philippine Honorary Consul in Atlanta, Mr. Raoul Donato.
Ambassador Cuisia congratulated the senator on his legislative achievements, which include the Congressional Passage in May 2009 of his legislation to create Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission. On the SAVE Act (S. 1244), Senator Isakson committed to consider the bill, recognizing that the Act is a first step in deepening Philippine-U.S. trade relations and is likely to boost US textile exports to Philippine and Asian markets that would allow creation of jobs in the U.S. Senator Isakson, a Republican representing Georgia, is a member of the Committee on Foreign Relations and ranking member of the Subcommittee on African Affairs.
