25/08/2011: Revised Policies and Guidelines in the Conduct of Foreign Surgical and Medical Missions in the Philippines
25 AUGUST 2011, WASHINGTON DC. The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. wishes to remind the Filipino-American community and the general public in the United States that foreign surgical and medical missions to the Philippines by foreign health service providers require prior approval of the Philippine Department of Health (DOH) and a special permit from the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Moreover, any foreign organization intending to bring medicines or medical equipment to be donated or used during the conduct of medical missions must comply with the requirements of the DOH, who shall facilitate the issuance of clearances for the medicines and medical equipment.
Organizers of medical missions may also contact the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) for assistance.
The contact details of the CFO and the complete DOH-imposed requirements for medical missions may be found in the following link to the Embassy’s website, http://philippineembassy-usa.org/philippines-dc/consular-services-dc/faq-dc/#medical. END
