10/11/2011: Filipino Short Film featured in Arts Club of Washington
Arts Club President Jack Hannula opens Southeast Asian Arts on Film held on November 9 at the historic house of former President James Monroe. Muni-Muni by Filipino filmmaker Clodualdo del Mundo, Jr. was one of the featured films in the festival.
November 10, 2011, Washington, DC – A short film by Filipino filmmaker Clodualdo del Mundo, Jr. was featured in the Southeast Asian Arts on Film organized by the Arts Club of Washington on 09 November 2011 at the historic James Monroe House in Washington, DC.
The film Muni-Muni (Musings) shows how a screenwriter converses with his fictional characters and muses on the nature of art and imagination. The movie features Philippine movie actors Chin Chin Gutierrez, Elijah Castillo and Sid Lucero. Clodualdo del Mundo, Jr. is one of the major screenwriters in Philippine cinema. His works include multi-awarded classics such as Manila in the Claws of Neon, Batch 81 and Third World Hero.
The Southeast Asian Arts on Film focuses on short films that feature the traditional and contemporary art forms of the countries in the region. Films from Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia were also presented. During the reception, music by Filipino American jazz sensation Charmaine Clamor was played.
The Arts Club of Washington, founded in 1916, aims to generate public appreciation for and participation in the arts through education programs, literary events, art exhibits and musical and theatrical performances. The Southeast Asian Arts on Film was their first foray in film festival. - END
