21 November 2011, Washington DC. The Pinoy Herald publication celebrated its 3rd year anniversary last November 19 at the James Lee Community Center in Falls Church, Virginia. The event was attended by the quarterly magazine’s management, writers, and special guests.
Mr. Emil T. Fernandez, Head of the Philippine Embassy’s Press and Information Section, served as the guest of honor. In his remarks, Mr. Fernandez praised Pinoy Herald not only for supporting the Embassy’s causes but also for its active service to the community. He also cited the strides that have been made in the Philippine economy and its governance since the assumption of the new administration in the middle of 2010.
Led by Mr. Rene R. Calandria as its editor-in-chief, Pinoy Herald serves the Filipino-American community through print and on-line media. Its volunteers have adopted a community center in Falls Church, Virginia where feeding programs are regularly conducted as their gesture of giving back to society. Many of its articles feature the positive aspects of Filipinos and Philippine culture. END
