06/12/2011: Hundreds Availed of Mobile Consular Services in Tampa, Florida
Hundreds of Filipinos and Filipino-Americans availed of mobile consular services provided by the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC on 26-27 November 2011 at the Bayanihan Arts & Events Center in Tampa, Florida.
Consul General Nolasco administered the oath of allegiance to 46 former Filipinos who reacquired their Philippine citizenship under RA 9225, the Dual Citizenship Law of 2003. Before the oath taking ceremony, he briefed the audience on the benefits of dual citizenship and appealed to them and to their families and friends to register as overseas absentee voter in connection with the upcoming 2013 national elections in the Philippines.
The consular outreach team processed onsite two hundred nine (209) electronic passport applications, reports of births and marriages and notarization/authentication of legal documents. It also registered 39 Filipinos and dual citizens overseas absentee voters. Seventy-three (73) individuals submitted petition letters to US legislators to support the Save our Industries Act, a bill that will allow the export duty-free to the United States of Philippine apparel made of U.S. fabrics and aims to increase jobs and exports income for both countries.

The Embassy’s consular team was assisted by Mr. Rudy Bautista, Business Management Director of the Bayanihan Center together with some volunteers.
