12/12/2011: PH Envoys in US Gather to Map Out 2012 Workplan

12 December 2011, Washington DC. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia Jr. convened a planning session for the Philippine Foreign Service posts (FSPs) in the U.S. last December 7 and 8 at the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. In attendance were the heads of the Philippine Consulates General in Chicago, Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York, Saipan, and San Francisco, as well as trade and tourism representatives.
Ambassador Cuisia conveyed the priority areas laid out by President Benigno S. Aquino III for the Philippine diplomatic and consular missions in the U.S., including the enhancement of economic diplomacy, promoting national security, and protecting the rights of Filipinos overseas. Specific activities and targets were enumerated for each of the goals that would serve as the FSPs workplan for the upcoming year. The group also tackled ways to improve the delivery of consular services and the organizational efficiency and productivity of its officers and staff. END
