24/05/2012: Philippine Food Companies in Washington DC’s Summer Fancy Food Show

12 June 2012, Washington DC. The Philippine Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service and the Growth and Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) are supporting a group of Philippine food companies as they exhibit various native food and beverage products at the Summer Fancy Food Show on June 17-19, 2012 in Washington D.C.

The Philippine delegation, led by DA Undersecretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat will join eight food companies in showcasing their local products at the largest specialty food and beverage event in North America with other 2,400 exhibitors from 80 countries and regions.

The participating Philippine-based companies are Atson/Tropicana Food Products Inc., See’s International Food Manufacturing Corporation, M.I. Noos Manufacturing, Lito M. Arenas Trading, Agrinurture, Marigold Manufacturing Corporation, Hi-Las Marketing Corporation, and Chosen Pili.

The Philippine companies will proudly present its coconut water, dried mangoes, banana chips, pili nut and other various processed fruits and vegetables side by side with the 180,000 other products including confectionaries, cheese, coffee, snacks, spices, ethnic, natural, organic and more, which will be featured  in the show.

Aside from participating in the product exhibits, participants will get a chance to attend different educational programs about the current state of the global food industry.

The Fancy Food Shows started in 1955 and feature yearly winter and summer shows.  Members of the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade exhibit their products at the shows, where retailers, restaurateurs, and others discover new and innovative food and beverage products. The Fancy Food Shows are attended by major food buying channels, influential members of the trade and consumer press and other related business. The event draws approximately 40,000 attendees.

This event will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW, Washington D.C.
