22/07/2012: Asian Festival Continues to Draw Crowds

22 July 2012, Washington DC. The Philippine Embassy took part in the 9th Asian Festival in Fairfax, Virginia this weekend. Embassy personnel distributed tourism materials and encouraged qualified Filipino Americans to register as overseas absentee voters. The Trade and Agricultural Attaches were likewise on hand to solicit support for the Save Our Industries Act and promote Philippine agricultural products, respectively. Numerous gifts, including “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” bags, USBs, and pins, capiz items, and dried mangoes were given away to visitors.
The Philippines was among the Festival’s featured countries. Its village was observed to be the most visited, with vendors selling an assortment of products and services, including food, clothes, jewelry, vacation packages, cable channels, as well as cargo and remittance services. Organizing the Philippines’ participation in the Festival was the Philippine American Foundation for Charities. (END)
