15/08/2012: Anakpawis Partylist Conducts Relief Operations for Victims of Monsoon Rains

15 August 2012, Washington DC. Anakpawis Representative Rafael V. Mariano, who was in Washington, D.C. last June 29 for a roundtable dialogue with representatives of the Filipino American community, informed Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. of the partylist group’s conduct of emergency relief operations for victims of the recent monsoon rains in parts of Luzon that resulted in flooding and landslides.

Representative Mariano said that the relief operations, dubbed “Tulong Anakpawis,” will be distributing food, water, clothing, medicines and other materials to provide for the needs of affected families and individuals.  As of August 9, Anakpawis had monitored close to 50,000 families in the cities of Caloocan, Malabon, Valenzuela, Parañaque, Quezon, Manila, Taguig and Marikina, and the provinces of Cavite, Laguna and Rizal, who are in need of immediate assistance.

Anakpawis Partylist is soliciting relief goods and financial assistance to support their endeavor.  For queries and other information, Projects Officer Yolanda D. Alcantara may be contacted at (+632) 442-4071, mobile number (+63999) 561-6399, or email address kapaeng_mariano@yahoo.com(END)
