02/08/2012: DFA Partners with ABS-CBN for Overseas Absentee Voting

2 August 2012 - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has signed an agreement with ABS-CBN last July 24 at the Hotel Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City to promote the overseas absentee voting (OAV) until its conclusion in  May 2013. The said agreement is in support of ABS-CBN's campaign "Bayan Mo, I-Patrol MO: Tayo Na!".

ABS-CBN Chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) Eugenio "Gabby" Lopez III and ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs Senior Vice President (SVP) Ma. Regina "Ging" Reyes, along with other ABS-CBN executives, graced the occasion.

DFA-OAVS hopes that the signing of the agreement will enhance OAV awareness through ABS-CBN's various channels here and abroad and could increase electoral participation from overseas Filipinos significantly as the electoral exercise is worthy of Filipinos' attention and support.

ABS-CBN has also partnered with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), other institutions, media organizations, schools and universities for this common cause. END
