29/08/2012: Two Months Remaining Before Close of OAV Registration Period
All qualified Filipinos in the United States are encouraged to register as Overseas Absentee Voters before the close of the registration period in two months.
Over nine years ago, the Philippine Congress passed the Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) Act, officially known as Republic Act No. 9189, which provides for a system for citizens of the Philippines currently residing or working abroad to vote in an election. The law was enacted to ensure equal opportunity to all qualified citizens of the Philippines abroad in the exercise of their fundamental right to cast their ballot.
The Philippine Embassy and Consulates General in the U.S. are reaching out to all qualified Filipinos so they may take part in the important role of molding our country's future by choosing the leaders of our nation.
We hope to receive the support and enthusiasm of all Filipinos in America.
