15/01/2013: Ambassador Cuisia Leads Filipino Americans in Metro DC in Celebrating Feast of Sto. Nino

January 15, 2013, Washington, DC – The Feast of the Infant Jesus of Prague (Sto. Niño) was celebrated at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC on January 13.

Ambassador Jose L. Cuisia, Jr and Ambassador Petr Gandalovic of the Czech Republic were both present to lead the Filipino and Czech communities in honoring the Sto. Niño. The Sto. Niño is a significant part of the Filipino Catholic faith as well as the early history of the Philippines when the Spaniards brought the image of the Child Jesus to the Philippines in the 16th century.

Ambassador Cuisia and Mrs. Cuisia led the offertory during the Mass that was attended by many devotees. The Crypt Church of the Basilica was filled and additional seats were arranged to accommodate the guests.

Former House Speaker New Gingrich also attended and delivered the Prayers of the Faithful. -- END
