Four Filipino students who are in the United States for the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), a five-week program sponsored by the Department of State, made a courtesy call to Ambassador Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. on 12 February 2015.

JC Jalbuna from de la Salle Univeristy, Al-Ghabid Jamil from Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Ali Melicano from the Southern Christian College, and Grisley Villacampa from the University of San Jose-Recoletos were chosen out of some 250 Filipino applicants by the US State Department to participate in the YSEALI.

The students are in the US for a four-week residential program in Philadelphia and a ten-day study tour through the Southwest US concluding in Washington, DC. The program integrates lectures, workshops, historical and religious site visits, panel presentations, media training, volunteer service opportunities, cultural events, and dialogue with American counterparts.
