25/12/2009: Christmas Message of Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Alberto G. Romulo
I join the Filipino nation and the Christian world in recalling the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The birth of Jesus clearly manifests the Almighty’s abiding love for mankind and hearkens us all to remain steadfast in our faith and life’s trials and tribulations.
During this yuletide season, the significance of that first Christmas gains even more importance.
In our world where change is constant and challenges are faced daily by individuals, communities, institutions and nations, we continue to draw strength, comfort and inspiration in our faith and in God’s promise.
Indeed, throughout the year we were moved to work together as one nation and one people to address challenges and seize opportunities to achieve greater peace, progress and prosperity for the Philippines.
We thank the Filipino community in the United States for being a true and caring partner for national growth, for helping propel our nation and people further forward.
You have remained engaged in the onward national advance to more growth and development and responded admirable and swiftly during the times of calamities.
As we celebrate the joy of Christmas and look forward to the New Year, I urge everyone to continue being instruments of hope and positive change for others and for our nation.
Let this pledge be the inspiration that will more us towards our shared goals for our people, our nation and our world.
Isa pang Makabuluhang Pasko at Mapayapang Bagong Taon sa inyong lahat!
