25/12/2009: Christmas Message of Philippine Ambassador to the United States Willy C. Gaa
Christmas is a season of joy and thanksgiving and a most welcome occasion for reflection and renewal.
The past year presented both opportunities and challenges for our country and our people. Yet working together with the global Filipino nation, the Philippines was able to overcome the trials it faced and move forward.
In the United States, the Filipino community has shown throughout the year its continuing care and concern for our nation.
During the most distressful of times, the Filipino community in the United States was among the very first to respond.
To this day, we note the sustained efforts of our kababayan to assist those whose lives have been drastically affected by the floods and landslides brought about by typhoons.
Triumphs on the international and American stages – in sports, in development work, in the academe, and in the arts – all were likewise borne on the wings of collective Filipino support and prayers.
As the Philippines continues its onward march to greater growth and development, I thank every Filipino in the United States who has remained a steadfast partner of our country.
Know that your Embassy and the Consulates General in the United States are ready to work closely with you in the advancement of the Philippines’ interests.
I urge you to further strengthen your partnership with the Foreign Service Posts in the United States. As we reaffirm this pledge at this time of the year, allow me to wish you all greater success, as individuals and as members of our united community.
Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon!
