Signature pieces from innovative furniture designer, Kenneth Cobonpue, will also be featured in this year’s cultural “Event of the Year.”
About the Artist
The work of Patis Tesoro is hailed in the Philippines and in the international fashion world as innovative, particularly in her use of natural fibers. Well known for her advocacy in preserving the piña (pineapple fiber) weaving industry in Aklan, she is also referred to as the “Grand Dame of Philippine Fashion.”
About the Beneficiaries
The Aklan Piña Mantra is an association founded in 1997 by 14 piña-weaving manufacturers in the province who worked for the standardization of the craftsmanship. Greatly affected by Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, the association is a fitting beneficiary for your donations.
