19/11/2009: U.S. Veterans Administration Continues to Receive and Process Filvets Claims

19 November 2009 – The U.S. Veterans Administration continues to accept claims for its Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation (FVEC) Program.  According to the latest report, 33,827 have been accepted; of which, 12,714 (37.6%) have been processed, and broken down as follows: 4,801 (14.2%) approved application for non-United States citizens, 4,625 (13.7%) approved application for Filipino Veterans with U.S. Citizenship and 3,288 (9.7%) disapproved applications.  The remaining 21,113 (62.4%) claims are still pending.  To date, over $112 million have been disbursed.

USVA initially anticipated an estimated 18,000 eligible Filipinos for the program.

Disapproved applicants who have been denied their claims may wish to follow options open to them in the VA Form 4107, "Your Rights to Appeal Our Decision," that is included in the notification letter sent to them by USVA.  VA Form 4107 is also available for download at the Philippine Embassy website at www.philippineembassy-usa.org/filvetsstimulusfund.htm.
