PHILIPPINE EMBASSY'S STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF AMBASSADOR ERNESTO MACEDA:

"The officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. would like to extend heartfelt condolences to the family of Ambassador Ernesto Maceda.

Ambassador Maceda was a distinguished patriot whose service to country and people is no less than exemplary. We remember him as a former Senate President whose contributions to the national interest will long resonate in the minds and hearts of his fellow countrymen.

Ambassador Maceda was also a consummate diplomat and we take immense pride in his helmsmanship of the Embassy in Washington, D.C. from July 1999 to May 2001. His former colleagues and compatriots in the Department of Foreign Affairs will continue to draw inspiration from his sterling example and legacy. He was a dear friend to many and he will be sorely missed."
