ADVISORY ON HURRICANE MATTHEW

The Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C. wishes to advise Filipinos in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina to take the necessary precautions in view of the expected effects of Hurricane Matthew in the US Southeast.
The threat of the Category 4 storm has triggered severe flood warnings and evacuation of areas that lie in its path.
The Embassy is urging the estimated 225,000 Filipinos in these states to continue monitoring public information and adhere to advisories issued by state and local authorities. Of this number, about 150,000 are in Florida, which is expected to experience hurricane conditions later this evening and has been declared in a state of emergency by the US President.
