ADVISORY ON TROPICAL STORM NATE
6 October 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. advises Filipino communities in Alabama, Florida and Louisiana to make necessary preparations to protect life and property in view of the anticipated effects of Tropical Storm Nate, which is projected to develop into a hurricane and make landfall in these states over the weekend.

“Nate has already caused casualties and destruction in parts of Central America. Those along its path in the US mainland should guard themselves against heavy rainfall, storm surges and flash floods,” said Minister Patrick A. Chuasoto, Chargé d’Affaires of the Philippine Embassy.

Pinag-iingat po natin ang lahat,” Minister Chuasoto added.

A statewide state of emergency has already been declared by Governor Kay Ivey in Alabama. In Florida, Governor Rick Scott has put 29 counties under a state of emergency.
