Key U.S. Senate Leader Reiterates Support for RP Veterans; Disaster Relief and Defense Needs

08 SEPTEMBER 2009 – Secretary of National Defense Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr called on Senator Daniel Inouye at Capitol Hill today to express his gratitude for the Senator’s strong support on issues important to the Filipino American community and the Filipino people in the Philippines, such as the Filipino WWII Veterans and assistance to Mindanao, particularly on humanitarian assistance, disaster response and security assistance that is vital in the establishment of stability and development in conflict areas in the Southern Philippines.

Senator Inouye, a senior and highly member of the U.S. Senate who currently chairs the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee reaffirmed to Secretary Teodoro his full commitment to continue supporting and enhancing Philippine-US relations. END.
