24/04/2009: Philippine Economic Management Team Meets USTR Top Officials on RP MCA Compact Bid for 2010

24 April 2009 – The Philippine Economic Management Team composed of Finance Secretary Margarito B. Teves (2nd from R), Budget and Management Secretary Rolando G. Andaya, Jr, and Socio-economic Planning Secretary Ralph G. Recto (partly hidden) met with US Trade Representative Ambassador Ron Kirk (2nd from L) to discuss the Philippines’ bid for Compact Status in 2010. The USTR is one of the MCC Board Members.

The Team, joined by Ambassador Willy C. Gaa, DOF Undersecretary Rosalia de Leon and Economic Officer Angelito Nayan, reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to the MCC process.

Ambassador Kirk said during the meeting that “this is a relationship (Philippines and US) that we want to grow.”  He was joined in (from L-R) by Assistant US Trade Representative Mary Ryckman, Assistant USTR Barbara Weisel, and Director for Southeast Asia and the Pacific Karl Ehlers. END.

Ambassador Gaa Calls on USTR Ambassador Kirk; Discusses with Top USTR Officials Issues of Common Concern


24 April 2009 – Ambassador Willy C. Gaa called on U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Ron Kirk during the meeting of the Philippine Economic Management composed of Finance Secretary Margarito B. Teves, Budget and Management Secretary Rolando G. Andaya, Jr. and Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Ralph G. Recto to discuss the Philippines’ bid for MCA Compact Status for 2010. USTR is one of the MCC Board Members.

Ambassador Gaa explained to USTR top officials Philippines’ initiatives and programs of interest to USTR.
