23 March 2009 - With the convening of the 111th U.S. Congress in January of 2009 and the legislative calendar well under way, Philippine Ambassador to the United States Willy C. Gaa had began engaging members of the U.S. Congress on issues of common interest and concern between the Philippines and the U.S.

Early in the year, Ambassador Gaa met with Senators Daniel Inouye and Daniel Akaka in the U.S. Senate. At the House of Representatives, Ambassador Gaa had met with Representatives Bob Filner, Mazie Hirono, Madeleine Bordallo and Eni Faleomavaega. In the past two weeks, Ambassador met with Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (Upper Left), Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr. (Upper Right) and Representative Mike Honda (Bottom).

Several meetings with U.S. legislators and some key legislative staff have been scheduled for Ambassador Gaa in the months ahead as he continues to work for stronger Philippine-U.S. relations and closer cooperation in areas of common interest between our two countries and peoples. END.
