12/03/2009: Philippine Embassy Meets Emerging American Political Leaders

12 MARCH 2009, WASHINGTON DC – Emerging American political leaders meet Embassy officials during an interactive briefing on the Philippines and Philippines-United States relations at the Philippine Embassy’s Carlos P. Romulo Hall.  The nine Americans include members of the New York City Council, the Louisiana State Senate, the Oshkosh City Council, the Washougal City Council and a District Judge from Marshall County Alabama.  They comprise the delegation of the American Council of Young Political Leaders that will conduct a Political Study Tour of the Philippines from March 14 – 24, 2009.  In the briefing, Deputy Chief of Mission Minister Carlos Sorreta emphasized the importance of people-to-people exchange in further reinforcing the special ties and historic partnership between the Philippines and the United States.  The Philippine Embassy in Washington DC works with stakeholders in the United States to further raise the level of awareness on and deepen the understanding of the dynamic ties between the Philippines and United States.
