05/03/2009: Ambassador Gaa Awards Philippine Liberation Campaign Medal to U.S. Veteran William Burhans
05 March 2009 - At a simple ceremony conducted on 05 March 2009 at the office of U.S. Representative Todd Platts (R-19th PA) at Capitol Hill, Philippine Ambassador to the United States Willy C. Gaa awarded the Philippine Liberation Campaign Medal to U.S. veteran William Burhans, a constituent of Representative Platts, for his participation in U.S. military operations that led to the liberation of the Philippines during World War II. Rep. Platts said that were it not for the bravery and sacrifice of Filipino and American soldiers during World War II, we would not have reached this level of relations between the United States and the Philippines. The ceremony was also witnessed by Mr. Burhans’ daughter and friends.
