26/02/2009: Rep. Filner Hosts Reception at Capitol Hill to Celebrate the Victory of the Filipino WWII Veterans
26 February 2009 - Close to around 90 people, comprising leaders and members of the Filipino community, veterans groups, legislative staffers, Embassy officials and some members of the U.S. House of Representatives, attended a reception hosted by Representative Bob Filner of California at the Cannon House Office Building on 26 February 2009 to celebrate the victory of the Filipino WWII veterans in their fight for recognition and benefits.
The reception was also an opportunity for the champions and most dedicated supporters of the Filipino WWII veterans in the U.S. House of Representatives to congratulate the veterans on their victory and express their appreciation for their patience and faith in their efforts to accord them their well deserved and long delayed recognition and benefits.
