26/02/2009: Ambassador Gaa Awards U.S. Legislators for their Role in Securing Recognition and Benefits for Filipino WWII Veterans

26 February 2009 - At a reception hosted by U.S. Representative Bob Filner (CA) at the Cannon House Office Building at Capitol Hill on 26 February 2009 to celebrate the victory of the Filipino WWII veterans, Philippine Ambassador to the United States Willy C. Gaa awarded certificates of appreciation to the following members of the U.S. House of Representatives for the key role they have played in the passage of a bill with a provision granting recognition and benefits to Filipino WWII veterans:

  • Representative Bob Filner (CA)
  • Representative Mike Honda (CA)
  • Representative Mazie Hirono (HI)
  • Representative Madeleine Bordallo (GU)

Other supporters of the Filipino WWII veterans in the U.S. House of Representatives who were not able to make it to the reception but were also awarded by Ambassador Gaa in recognition of their support and active role in the Filipino WWII veterans cause are the following:
