19/01/2009: Ambassador Gaa Hosts Reception for Filipino American Community Leaders on the Occasion of the Inauguration of President Barack Obama
On the occasion of the inauguration of President Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States, Philippine Ambassador to the United States Willy C. Gaa hosted a reception at the Philippine Embassy on 19 January 2009 to welcome Filipino American community leaders from all over the United States who have flown in to take part in the various Presidential inauguration activities in Washington D.C.
Around 103 guests attended the reception, which included prominent Filipino American personalities such as U.S. Representative Steve Austria of Ohio, the first Filipino American elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, Filipino international singer Ms. Charice Pempengco, internationally known Filipino American visual artist Ms. Lolita Valderrama Savage, NaFFAA President Emeritus Loida Nicolas-Lewis and current NaFFAA President Greg Macabenta.
